Frequently Asked Questions

Services to citizens and municipalities

  • It is 3 p.m. and the collection truck has not yet emptied my bins. Should I call before the end of the day, just in case? You must wait until the day after to call about a missed collection, as collection may have been simply delayed.
  • I found a “billet de courtoisie” on one of my bins, indicating irregularities (non conforme) in the content. What should I do? • You should take out of the bin whatever material is not appropriate (as indicated) and put your bin back at the street on the next collection day. For any question, please call Compo Recycle at 450 882-9186, option 2, or 1 888 482-6676, option 2.
  • I have to get rid of an old clothes dryer. Will it cost me abything if I take it to the ecocentre? • Your ecocentre accepts recycling and composting surpluses, as well as bulky residential items, free of charge.
  • I cleaned up my shed and have a number of old paint and solvent containers that I wish to dispose of safely. I heard that hazardous waste should not be put in the garbage. Hazardous waste such as paint and batteries, should be taken to the appropriate location. Visit your municipality’s page in this website and read the hazardous household waste (HHW) section to find out more.
  • What should I do with ashes from the fireplace, or woodstove? • You may put ashes in your brown bin, but be careful, ashes must have a chance to cool off for at least 3 weeks in a metal container before you get rid of them. You may also use you cold ashes on snow or ice during the winter. Very effective!

Container Rental Services

  • I am planning to renovate at home and I would need a container, but am not sure what size I should order. You can chose between 8 to 40 cubic yards. Contact us at 1 888 482-6676, option 1, or at container@comporecycle.com. Our agents will help you select the right size for your needs.
  • What happens to my discarded construction materials? Construction materials from our containers are brought to our dry materials sorting plant, to be sorted and transported, at a 30 to 65 % ratio, to specialized recyclers for transformation.
  • My parents are selling their house and have to get rid of several old pieces of furniture and various articles. Could I rent a container to that purpose, and what will happen to those articles? You may rent a container, but you must know that you are not allowed to put any tire, car battery, hazardous household waste, mattress, or paint in the container, which will be transported to our dry materials sorting plant, where we will sort it and send out all recyclable materials to be transformed.
  • I am an individual, and I would like to know how long in advance I must reserve a container, and how long I may keep it. You should expect a 3-5 days delay for delivery of your container. Duration of rental is 2 weeks. You may pay cash on delivery or by credit card when you reserve..

Commercial Container Services

  • I rent a 4 cubic yard container and I need to exchange it for an 8 cubic yard. Will I have to pay a fee for exchanging containers (transport, contract modification, etc.)? Exchanging a container for a smaller or larger one is absolutely free of charge.
  • May I put organic matters (composting) directly into the brown container? Compostable organic matters are generally more liquid and should be put into brown compostable bags (or clear plastic bags) to avoid freezing in winter, and bad smells in summer.
  • I have a small business, and I would rather use recycling and composting bins instead of containers. Is it possible? If Compo Recycle already does 3-way collection in your municipality, you may rent one or several bins for your business. Call us for more details.
  • From time to time, I have excess waste and my container is full a few days before collection day. How can I dispose of that excess? If it is recycling, you may put the excess in clear plastic bags next to your recycling container. End waste and compostable matters placed beside containers will not be picked up. You might consider changing the frequency of your collection service.
  • When I rent a commercial container, what does the price include? The rental cost includes transport and collection fees, plus processing (recyclable and compostable matters), or burying costs (end waste).

Event and Festival Planning

  • I am organizing an event for the first time and I have no idea how many recycling bins I will need on the site.

We put our event and festival planning experience at your service to help plan your needs in terms of type and number of bins and containers.

  • Several volunteers are willing to help participants, especially in sorting residual matters the right way. However, we would need communication tools.

Compo Recycle can help you train your volunteers, produce signs and set up a complete communication program for your event. Call us for a free estimate.

  • I would like concessions at the festival to reduce waste by using recyclable or compostable plates and utensils. Any suggestion?

Compo Recycle can advise you on how to communicate your request and where your concessions could buy recyclable or biodegradable supplies.
